Windsor Terrace Townhouse
Nestled on a quiet, tree-lined street, this Windsor Terrace townhouse on Vanderbilt Street is a charming residential gem. Built in 1910, this decorative masonry townhouse is one of a series of five, each exuding a timeless character that harkens back to its era.
The interiors of this beautiful home are warm and inviting, featuring dark, rich woods and nostalgic design elements that evoke a sense of history. These traditional aspects are thoughtfully juxtaposed with contemporary touches, particularly in the kitchen and the primary suite bathroom, creating a harmonious blend of old and new. The owners have painstakingly worked to marry the home's historical character with their personal touches, ensuring that it feels uniquely like home.
Duplex Condominium in Williamsburg
This luxury duplex condominium, on the waterfront of the East River just south of the iconic Williamsburg Bridge, offers unparalleled views of Manhattan's skyline. Built in 2006, this condominium building boasts remarkable features, including a top-floor location, two expansive terraces, and a breathtaking double-height space flooded with natural light.
The duplex's redesign includes a one of a kind "boomerang" staircase and a lively and eclectic kitchen, seamlessly integrating rich woods, dark metals, and saturated colors. The overall ambiance strikes a balance between contemporary elegance and rustic warmth, creating an inviting retreat in the heart of Williamsburg.
Park Slope Townhouse Expansion
This Park Slope townhouse expansion project showcases contemporary geometry, offering a striking contrast to the existing structure's materiality and style. The interior organization has been meticulously rearranged to maximize functionality and aesthetic appeal.
A highlight of this expansion is the redesigned primary bedroom space, which seamlessly flows through the closet to an opulent ensuite bathroom. This layout not only enhances the flow of natural light and air but also offers breathtaking views of the surrounding neighborhood.
In contrast to the original house, the materials chosen for the addition reflect a contemporary approach to cladding the envelope. This dichotomy with the existing envelope reinforces the marriage of new and old so prevalent and desirable in modern-day Brooklyn.
Barclays Condo
This Barclays Condo on Dean Street is a stunning example of how industrial heritage can be transformed into luxurious modern living. Originally a Brooklyn warehouse, this building now hosts a series of beautiful duplex condominium residences. Each unit boasts expansive views of the Barclays Center and the bustling Atlantic Avenue complex, with an abundance of natural light streaming through oversized window openings.
In this particular two-bedroom unit, the owner has selectively updated key spaces to enhance both functionality and aesthetic appeal. The bathroom features European-inspired finishes and hardware, providing a touch of elegance and sophistication. The living room has been thoughtfully redesigned, and an office space has been added to the main area, making it perfect for modern living. Additionally, new Runtal radiators have been installed at all window locations, ensuring both style and comfort throughout the year.
Sky Blue Kitchen
This kitchen in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn is a testament to thoughtful design and adaptability. Originally a two-family home, it has been used for decades as a single-family residence. Recently, the owners took advantage of this layout to reconfigure the second floor, accommodating their growing family as they embark on their retirement journey.
The new second-floor kitchen is a highlight, offering plenty of open space and utility for a young family with children. Bright and neutral tones dominate the design, creating a cheerful and versatile backdrop that allows the vibrant experiences of family life to shine. This thoughtful redesign ensures that the home not only meets the practical needs of a growing family but also provides a modern and welcoming environment for all.
Park Slope Townhouse Expansion II
At Grafēdē, we embraced the challenge of transforming this 1925 two-family home in Park Slope. This townhouse expansion project focuses on enlarging and reconfiguring the existing structure and interiors while preserving its street-facing aesthetic. The highlight of this expansion is the two tone contrasting clad materials for the rear yard extension. Warm cedar color meets deep grey linear patterns that describe the interplay of the angular geometries.
The use of contemporary materials and geometric elements enhances the natural light and air circulation throughout the home. The result is a harmonious blend of traditional architecture with modern functionality, making this project a perfect reflection of Grafēdē’s commitment to thoughtful design.
